The Sankofa Education Series

 

The Sankofa Education series is an educational program of the Association of African American Cultural Gardens
whose purpose is to encourage education and interest in African American history and culture and to develop and
preserve the African American Cultural Gardens.  We are committed to educating people of all backgrounds of the
unique and rich history of African Americans and facilitating a spirit of friendship and unity among people of all
diverse cultures through the new and innovative Sankofa Education Series. This 6 weeks mini series will
premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020 at 7 p.m.

 

This webcast program includes interesting interviews with leading African American educational, religious,
entrepreneurial, community leaders and change agents including Harry Boomer, M. Campy Russell,
Cecil Lipscomb, Councilman Kevin Conwell, Dr. Charles Modlin, Rhonda Crowder, Dr. Alex Johnson,
Glenda Horton, Rev. Otis Moss and others.

 

Additionally, the new Sankofa Webcast series will feature music,

spoken word and artistic presentations by local and national artists

of all ages. The series is hosted by K.D. Hale and
Rachel L. Hill.

 

 

 

 

Episode 1

 

Meet M. Campy Russell and Rhonda Crowder

This episode of the Sankofa Education Series features interviews
with M. Campy Russell, television pregame & postgame analyst/director
of Alumni Relations for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Rhonda Crowder,
journalist, author, entrepreneur and associate publisher of
Who’s Who in Black Cleveland. This episode also features performances
by drummer and poet Martinique Mims.

Episode 2

 

Meet Dr. Alex Johnson and Dessie Sanders

This episode of the Sankofa Education Series features interviews with

Dr. Alex Johnson, president of Cuyahoga Community College and

Dessie Sanders, principal of Daniel E. Morgan School. This episode

also features a performance by violinist Obie Shelton.

Meet Cecil Lipscomb and Dr. Charles Modlin, MD, MBA

This episode of the Sankofa Education Series features Cecil Lipscomb,

executive director of United Black Fund, and Dr. Charles Modlin, MD, MBA,

kidney transplant surgeon and urologist at Cleveland Clinic, founder

and director of the Minority Men's Health Center of Cleveland.

This episode also includes a performance by James Tate of the Deltones.
